Audiobook Clinic

Steve Marvel focuses on what it takes to give compelling performances in the “marathon, not a sprint” that is audiobooks. Participants will learn how to dig into a manuscript for acting clues, sustain the listener's interest, and minimize mistakes in order to maintain performance.

An actor with a nearly 40-year stage career, Steve started narrating audiobooks when he became one of only four narrators ever to win ACX's Audiobook Narration Contest. His 200 some titles include bestsellers in the Thriller, Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Business, and Biography Genres for publishers such as Penguin Random House, Macmillan, Harper, and Hachette. He is an Audiofile Magazine Earphones Award winner, a 4-time Voice Arts Award finalist, and an Independent Book Publishers Association Benjamin Franklin Silver Medal Winner. Steve’s voice work is also featured in video games for Mattel, Sony, and Activision, and he maintains an active film and stage acting career. He is a graduate of both The Interlochen Arts Academy and Northwestern University in Acting, and currently teaches both Voiceover and Acting in the greater Cleveland area. Only Randall Ryan is allowed to call him “Marv”.
